Chesterbrook is a community in Wayne, Tredyffrin Township with zip code 19087.
Chesterbrook Farm was originally in Berwyn, Pennsylvania and was owned by Alexander Johnston Cassatt (1839-1906). A.J. Cassatt was the 7th president of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Cassatt bred thoroughbred racehorses in Chesterbrook. The 600-acre (240 ha) property is today the site of a subdivision with office buildings and homes using the Chesterbrook Farm name. The original main barn designed by Philadelphia architect Frank Furness has been maintained and restored
On November 5, 1969, the Richard Fox interests bought Chesterbrook Farm at a price of $2,322,000. The first home in Chesterbrook was not completed until Novemebr of 1977. This was due to strong opposition from the neighboring residents. The legal battle went all of the way to the supreme court. In all, it took 23 years from purchasing the land to the completion of the last home.
