King of Prussia, Pennsylvania is located in
Upper Merion Township,
Montgomery County. King of Prussia has the 19406 zip code.
King of Prussia was originally settled by Welsh
immigrants, who named the town Reeseville after a wealthy family
that owned most of the land. Reeseville was commonly called King of
Prussia by the people, because of the “King
of Prussia Inn.” The King of Prussia Inn was a local tavern
named for Frederick II, King of Prussia. The King of Prussia Inn was
originally constructed as a cottage by Welsh Quakers William and
Janet Rees in 1719. In 1769, the Inn was converted to a cottage, and
served as a place for travelling settlers to sleep. In 1850, the
post office officially named the town, “King of Prussia.”
