Merion, Pennsylvania is located in
Montgomery County, PA. It is one of Philadelphia’s suburbs.
Merion is usually referred to as Merion Station. Merion is located
in the 19066 zip code. Merion was settled by the Welsh in the early
1680s. These Welsh were descendants of the Welsh king Merion, who
had given his name to Merionethshire in North Wales.
In 1682 The Welsh Quakers established
Merion Meeting. The present
meetinghouse was built in 1695, with an addition constructed between
1712 and 1714. William Penn visited the meeting serveral times
between 1699 and 1701.
The Von Trapp family from The Sound
of Music lived in Merion in 1938. They stayed at 252 Merion
Road, which was the home of a Merion Lawyer, Henry S. Drinkler, Jr..
After the family gained financial stability, they purchased a farm
